Russia attacks Ukrainian capital during British PM visit

Kyiv, Jan 16 (EFE).- An explosion rocked the center of Kyiv on Thursday at around noon when the city’s air defenses were activated to repel a Russian attack, which occurred hours after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer landed in the Ukrainian capital.

“Air defense forces are working in the center of the capital. Stay in shelters!” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in Telegram, according to the state-owned Ukrinform agency.

The Ukrainian Air Force had previously warned that attack drones launched by Russia were heading towards the Kyiv region.

Russia usually carries out its suicide drone attacks at night or in the early hours of the morning, although it has launched several missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities during the day. EFE
