Jay-Z calls out Grammys for never awarding Beyonce Album of the Year

Los Angeles, US, Feb 4 (EFE).- American rapper Jay-Z called out Grammys at the 66th annual awards on Sunday for never giving his wife, Beyonce, an Album of the Year trophy.

Jay-Z won the Dr. Dre Global Impact Grammy, given to Black artists for their contribution to the music industry.

The rapper used the opportunity to highlight his wife’s contribution to the music industry.

“She has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year. So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys never won album of the year. That doesn’t work,” he said, accompanied by his eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, on stage.

“Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed, some of you don’t belong in the category. When I get nervous, I tell the truth,” the rapper added.

Beyonce made history at the last Grammys, where she was nominated under nine categories for her album Renaissance, released in July 2022.

She won in four categories to become the artist with the most Grammy awards, 32, suring Georg Solti and Quincy Jones.

This year, SZA was the most nominated artist with nine nominations for her album SOS, followed by Phoebe Bridgers and Victoria Monet with seven each. Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Jon Batiste and Olivia Rodrigo received six. EFE
