During the match on Monday, the spectator – already identified by the police and found to be a minor – poked Sevilla’s Argentine player Lucas Ocampos from behind in an obscene and inappropriate manner.

Earlier, Sevilla had urged LaLiga to take appropriate measures so that there is no repetition of such incidents.

The club expressed deep regret over the incident, describing it as “an obscene and totally inappropriate gesture by a local fan.”

It also conveyed its “maximum ” to Ocampos, and praised his professionalism in the face of the spectator’s unacceptable behavior.

The player too had urged LaLiga to take the matter seriously so that it does not happen again “because if this happens in women’s football, we all know what could happen.”

LaLiga also announced they would report to the public prosecutor’s office racist insults directed at the Moroccan footballer Youssef En-Nesyri, who scored the two goals in Sevilla’s 1-2 victory over Rayo. EFE
