Tokyo, Feb 6 (EFE).- Inter Miami player Lionel Messi said Tuesday that he was feeling good ahead of a pre-season friendly in Japan after discomfort in his abductor prevented him from playing against Hong Kong over the weekend.

“Today afternoon we are going to train. The truth is that I have a very good feeling compared to a few days ago and, depending on how it goes, I’ll see if I play,” he said at a press conference ahead of Inter Miami’s match against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo on Wednesday.

“If I’m honest, I still don’t know if I’ll be able to do it or not, but I feel a lot better and I’m really looking forward to it (playing),” he added.
In the first of the two matches played in Saudi Arabia as part of the preseason tour the Argentine star felt discomfort in the abductor and a MRI scan revealed swelling in the muscle.
“In the second match…I played to test myself and to see the sensations I had,” he said, but the discomfort persisted and made it “difficult” for him to play.
“Then we went to Hong Kong and we had an open-door training session and I went out due to the number of people that were there,” the player said.
Regarding the controversy over his absence in the friendly against Hong Kong on Saturday which Inter Miami won 4-1, he said: “It’s a football thing, it can happen in any game that we can have an injury. It happened to me, I couldn’t be in the Hong Kong game.”
“It’s a shame because I always want to participate, I want to be there, and even more so when it comes to these types of games, where we travel so far and people are so excited,” the former Barça player added. EFE
