Norris cuts into Verstappen’s lead with dominant Singapore win

Sports Desk, Sep 22 (EFE).- Lando Norris cruised to victory from pole position in the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, cutting into the championship lead of Red Bull’s reigning world champion Max Verstappen, who finished in second.

Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri followed in third, after starting in fifth behind Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

The double podium sees McLaren extend their lead at the top of the constructor’s championship to 41 points.

But Verstappen’s impressive performance in holding onto second in a slower car demonstrates how tough it is going to be for Norris to wrest the driver’s title away from the Dutchman, who is eyeing his fourth consecutive world championship.

Russell finished fourth, one ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, while Hamilton came in sixth.

Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz came in seventh, one ahead of his Spanish compatriot Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin.
