Show work or resign: Musk tells US federal employees

New York, Feb 22 (EFE).- Tycoon Elon Musk, who heads the United States Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), gave federal employees a 48-hour deadline on Saturday to for the work they did the previous week or resign.

“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” Musk wrote on social networking platform X.

“Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” he added.

According to US media reports, workers have already received this email from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which gave them a deadline until Monday at 23.59 EST (5.59 GMT) to report on their work.

“As part of the Trump istration’s commitment to an efficient and able federal workforce, OPM is asking employees to provide a brief summary of what they did last week by the end of Monday,” OPM said in a statement.

Musk-led DOGE has led the dismantling of entities such as the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which is tasked with monitoring Wall Street and protecting consumers from unfair practices. EFE
