Kuala Lumpur, Mar 8 (EFE).- Malaysia on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to finding answers in one of aviation’s greatest mysteries, expressing condolences to the families of the 239 people aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which vanished over the Indian Ocean on March 8, 2014.
In a statement, the transport ministry reiterated the government’s “unwavering commitment” to the investigation, including a third search effort launched in late February by US company Ocean Infinity.
“It remains our responsibility to seek all credible leads to locate the final resting place of MH370, providing much-needed closure to the families of those on board,” the statement said.
The government acknowledged that the contract with Ocean Infinity has yet to be finalized but assured that discussions are ongoing, given the strong public interest in the case.

Despite the pending agreement, Ocean Infinity deployed its ships in February to scan a 15,000-square-kilometer area, operating on a “no find, no fee” basis, Kuala Lumpur confirmed.
A group representing victims’ families urged authorities to expedite the contract g while expressing gratitude for renewed efforts to locate the aircraft.
“We have mourned our loved ones on MH370 since 2014 and are still waiting for a credible explanation for the loss of the plane and its engers, hoping it will bring closure to families who have suffered for so long,” the group said.

Some relatives attended a religious ceremony in Kuala Lumpur to mark the anniversary, while others held a press conference in Beijing, where they highlighted that 153 of the missing engers were Chinese nationals.
The flight also carried 50 Malaysians (including 12 crew ), seven Indonesians, six Australians, five Indians, four French, three Americans, two New Zealanders, two Ukrainians, two Canadians, one Russian, one Dutch, one Taiwanese, and two Iranians.
MH370 disappeared roughly 40 minutes after departing Kuala Lumpur for Beijing, veering off course toward the southern Indian Ocean after entering Vietnamese airspace. The cause of the disappearance remains unknown. EFE
