Brussels, Apr 24 (EFE).- The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, on Thursday criticized Russia after the fresh attack on Ukraine, which left at least nine dead and 70 wounded.
“While claiming to seek peace, Russia launched a deadly airstrike on Kyiv. This isn’t a pursuit of peace, it’s a mockery of it,” Kallas posted on social networking platform X.
“The real obstacle is not Ukraine but Russia, whose war aims have not changed,” the Estonian politician added.
Russia launched 70 missiles of different types and 145 suicide drones at Ukraine overnight in its massive attack on six regions of the neighboring country, including Kyiv, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The Kremlin has denied having attacked civilian targets in Kyiv and claimed directing the offensive only towards military and quasi-military targets in Ukraine.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of Russian bombings and canceled part of his state visit to South Africa for an early return.
The massive attack was launched against the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia and Khmelnytsky regions, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. EFE
