Barcelona, Oct 8 (EFE).- Diego Armando Maradona returned to Barcelona with the “Diego Vive” exhibition at the Metrònom Hall in the Catalan capital, an immersive experience to honor the Argentine football player’s career.
Wearing virtual reality goggles, visitors can experience the “goal of the century” when Maradona scored against five England players in the quarter-finals of the 1986 World Cup or have their photo taken imitating the so-called “hand of God.”

The exhibition’s creator, Avelino Tamargo, explained during a media tour on Tuesday that the space aims to break with the “ivity” that characterizes immersive exhibitions to promote the “more interactive, sensitive and experimental” aspects.

“The adults will feel like children, and the children will get to know Maradona. They will feel that Diego is right next to them,” stressed Tamargo about the exhibition that will open in Barcelona for two months after visiting Naples and Tel Aviv, with an influx of “around 18,000 visitors in a month” in Italy and “32,000 people in 25 days” in Israel.

A hologram of a young Maradona in his Boca Juniors uniform greets the visitor. Then, in the adjacent room, the visitor is transported to Maradona’s humble origins through videos, photographs, and a reconstruction of the house where he grew up with his parents and siblings in Villa Fiorito, Buenos Aires.

The room has a photographic exhibition of his personal and sporting life, replicas of some of the trophies he won, and several jerseys, some originals, such as the one he wore on his debut with the team Argentinos Juniors in 1976, another he wore for Newell’s in 1983 and a third one with the white and blue team, against Romania at the World Cup in Italy.
In addition, visitors be able to test their goal-scoring skills and learn about the football player’s life in a 360-degree video room.

After Barcelona, “Diego Vive” will arrive in Buenos Aires, and the organizers are aiming to tour 50 cities over the next three years, with a strong presence in Spain.
“Next year, we will be in Madrid in April. We will probably also go to Malaga, Seville, and Palma de Mallorca, and we are looking into the possibility of holding a t exhibition of Maradona and Kempes in Valencia,'” said Tamargo. EFE
